Mass Image Import & Resize From ASP Database - 5/9/2005 11:10:23
Have a client with a large asp database full of novelty items. They want a series of smaller focused sites built.I need to mass import images from the asp database.
Then resize all the images.

(Unfortunately when I use the FP auto thumbnail the images degrade too much.
I tried several series of steps using PSP & different combinations of, sharp, or unsharp, export/jpeg optimizer, and clarify but the images continue to degrade so I am being forced to use the originals, resize them and put fewer on a page to keep load times down. Any ideas here are welcome too.) Hopefully I can import then resize all the images into one folder at once? FP2000 & PSP7 I searched the archives first but did not find this.Any suggestions? ThanksFrank

I should mention. I do not manage the database site.
I can get into the PW protected website with all the images and I have permission to use them. But I do not want to deal with the database manager in anyway, so I am wondering if I can do this just by importing and resizing the images somehow in mass?

Thanks
Frank

are the images stored inside the database?  Or are they stored in a directory on the site?

If they're in a directory you can FTP the whole shebang down to your local HDD, then resize them.

I use Photoshops batch process for resizing images "en masse" - it's pretty simple to set up and you can specify the compression as well...
