FPE & VSS Help - 5/9/2005 12:44:31
I am upgrading our servers to Windows2003. We are currently using VSS as Source control but want to move the VSS databases off of the webserver and onto their own application server. The VSS databases are quite large and are becoming a hog on the webserver. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get IIS on the server machine to look at an external VSS Database. I don't even get the "Use External" option when trying to configure Source Control on our servers and I've already been through the wonderful MS documentation about adding the currently logged in user to the database etc. All to no avail. When I tried to actaully add the server extensions to the different webs we have on our server, the process got to the "Please wait while your changes are processed." page and just sat there...forever. I eventually closed that browser and when I went back into IIS all seemed ok...the extensions were there (assumed) and looked good. Has ANYONE gotten VSS to work with Win2k3 and FPE2002???? If so have you been able to point to a VSS DB on another server somewhere??? ...help

Bob, Welcome to Outfront. I will admit, I've never done anything like that before, but I must ask, what server side technologies do you have on the server?

Well - we're running ASP.NET 1.1 on these boxes and that's about it really as far as server side stuff goes.
