guestbook created from frontpage gets spammed - 5/12/2005 6:57:26
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to create an online guestbook that won't get spammed by all kinds of advertising?
I tried using the Frontpage guestbook template and i ended up with long pages of viagra/pharmaceutical/porn spam that published itself via the guestbook.

There's another active thread in this forum that discusses the same problem you're dealing with. Read through the post called My Guestbook is being spammed located at http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/m-255949/tm.htm
and it should help fix your problem. Well, that is at least minimize its effects.

In the end, I opted to pay a small fee to Bravenet for my company Guestbook ( http://pub3.bravenet.com/guestbook/244109370 ) and got rid of the FP one, but the site you posted looks pretty cool for other sites of mine around the Net, where I (or rather my visitors!) have to put up with Bravenet's constant popups.

I think you've done folks like woohoo (for example) a great favour here ... and me too! My company Bravenet Guestbook is up for renewal, so I logged in to do it and - Wow! - instead of US$ 20.95 when I bought the service, it's now priced at over $50.00!!
Following your helpful link, I've now set up a cute little Guestbook here: http://freeguestbooks.org/g.php?user=johnhfpl - OK, it's simple, and it doesn't send an e-mail when someone posts, but it's spam-free and perfectly adequate for $00.00!
