I have a bit of a conundrum I am trying to figure out in my head. Its been confusing me for days so I figured you might as well all suffer with me [;)]

I had a piece of software that would allow me to create navigation menu's (Allweb Menus) It's a great tool, especially for big site. If a client wanted to change or add a link in the main menu I just had to change the java menu and it updated the entire site.   I stopped using this software for a while so I could learn how to make CSS menus. It took a while but I got there in the end.   Now I don't know what to do!! Should I go back to the java menu's or stick with my new skills in CSS. 

CSS Pro's Very flexible design workings If I change the width of a menus main div or cell the menu changes with it. Very nice Simple to change menu styles from within the style sheet.  

Java Menu Pro's Simple software that will allow me to add extra items to the main menu with the click of a button (Great for large sites) Scrolling menu's for long pages (terms and conditions and so on) Simple to incorporate pop out menu's on the fly   Can you see my problem [8|]

This is causing me no end of unrest. Using both might work but I am not so sure about the search engine functionality of java menus    

So there you have it. Any takers!!

I'd use CSS menus in a PHP include - that way you get the best of both worlds - all the accessibility / page weight / availability advantages of CSS plus you only have to edit one file and it updates globally!

There's a better range of CSS menus available now including dropdowns - pop outs etc.

Stick with css. I used to use allweb and it's a great tool but I dumped it long ago for css menus.

You can do all the flash stuff with css. If you want movement just use animated gifs for your buttons.

I figured CSS would be the way to go. Just needed it confirmed. In saying that there are some menus that I think would be best designed using the Allweb Menus software. A good example is a client of mine that started about 2 years ago. This site has been up and down a number of time and its still going on. To date the navigation menu has been changed no less then SEVEN times already.

I would point out that this client is a semi state body (Enough said)[;)]

Allweb Menus and Java menus are great for that sort of client.  

I also use this software for page elements that hold a lot of information with 2 or 3 sub menus deep. A good example of this is in my other business website. To see this menu click here: http://www.hairways.ie/flights 

All in all I think I will stick with the CSS menus simply because of there flexibility.   I don't use PHP so making includes would be difficult. But I will be taking a closer look at this route.
It would be great to have a page just for the navigation but not use frames.
