New site critique - 5/29/2005 9:21:06
I just got this site up in February and so far everyone that has given me feedback loves the idea behind it however my conversion rate is almost non-existent. I'm getting good traffic to the site but no one feels the urgency to sign up. Could you please take a look at it and tell me what you think about the design and what you suggest changing to get people to sign up. I've been looking at it for too long to have any independent ideas any more.

The site is http://www.emergencycontacts.com

Thanks for any help or suggestions,

Todd

Hi Todd,

Welcome to OutFront Forums.

The first impression I get, is that it's darned hard to read.

10px for body font is too tiny for comfort, especially as your product is likely aimed at older people. Also, by setting font size as absolute rather than relative, visitors using Internet Explorer (the majority) cannot resize the text to their own comfort.

I feel that the text in the Welcome graphic and the main red graphic needs sharpening and it looks strangely squashed, besides being on the "too small" side.

I like the colours, but wonder why you have the top table containing three links set to 100% while the main table is only 800px? Looks very strange on my monitor at 1280x1024 resolution.

When viewed at 800x600 res, there is a small horizontal scroll bar. That can be eliminated by making the tables about 750px wide.

HTH :)
