Personal Web Server (Full Version)

My computer at home is still Win98....I have the personal web server installed, and my Fp2k runs there. Is there a way to install that on WinXp?

I did a search and all the posts I found for this subject, all the links were broken.

Also, is there an alternative. I am thinking of getting MS Server 2k3, Small Business......

I am a small business building my first website...and I don't have a host yet...I have a static IP that I am hoping with MS Server 2k3, I can host my own .....

If you have Windows XP, you will need Windows XP Professional (one hell of a lot cheaper than Server editions), with that you can install IIS (Internet Information Services) along with the FPSE needed to run an FP2K built site.

Time on my hands.....Tons.

Experience.....none.

But a quick learner.

If i were to get WinServer2k3, will I be able to host a business website from there? Can I use FP2k to build/admin it?

Generally, when you add up the time and cost in setting up your webserver - its often cheaper to pay the experts [&:]

Is it critical its always up? Are backups required? Mail server? Bandwidth requirements? Your connection speed? UPS? You have a hardware router / firewall?

It will need to be up all of the time......
backups will not be required....
no email,
Bandwidth requirements= I have no idea,
Connection speed = 350down/40up
I have UPS (you do mean power backup right?)
and I have a router/firewall already in use with my office network.
( A Whopping 4 computers)

spooky is right - you can get web hosting as cheap as $5 - $10 month - what is your time worth?  also, unless you have a dedicated T1 line, most isps frown on you using your connection to host a site.

Ok..can you give me some specs on what a server will need?
I have already paid for the Static IP and the Domain Name.....
I went ahead and bought MS Server 2k3 small business...so I apparently have all that I need.

My time isn't the big deal.....I have plenty of it right now for this business.

When you say experience...experience in what?
Is it not possible to learn this?
