RE: Deleting the undeletable - 6/1/2005 10:39:36
This problem also causes problems when removing adware, spyware malware etc because these programs often installed via a trojan add a small program to the windows startup files that launches the others. I use msconfig From the Start menu select Run and type in msconfig. The last tab on the smal window that opens is startup and lists those programs running at startup (the ones you cant remove because they are running) Uncheck the ones you want to get rid of - so they dont start at boot up - then reboot. Then you can get rid of them either directly or via Ad-aware or whatever you use. For other programs that don't fall into this category you can usually type CTRL/ALT/DELETE to lauch the task manager - select the program - stop it running then remove it. Of course you need to know the name of the program which often doesn't bare any relation to what you think it should be called! CAUTION - For anyone using these options who is not familiar with them be very careful that you dont stop any of the important windows files from running.

Here is what I have used for years. GiPo@MoveOnBoot 1.9.5 (English), EXE-setup (644 Kb) http://www.gibinsoft.net/gipoutils/bin/moveonb.exe Click it open - navigate to the file you want moved or deleted - Navigate to the where you want it to go (if it's to be moved). Repeat action for more files - files will be "moved-on- reboot" of your comp. There is a newer version that you must pay for but I find the older freeware one I use works fine. mitch ------ "The rhetoric of class warfare is as old as dirt. Even Pharaoh kept the slaves fighting among themselves to extend their captivity. But there is nothing classy about stirring people's jealousy and envy, making people feel as if the world owes them something, or bashing people who take risks to create jobs and help drive our economy. It is classless exploitation to appeal to a person's weakness of understanding instead of their strength of character." --Herman Cain
