Very Very Strange - 6/1/2005 10:21:56
This should keep most of you up all night. I have dreamweaver on my systems and on a rare occasion I do a bit of work in it to keep me fresh. I recently installed dreamweaver on a new system I just built. Here is my problem. I have 7 sites setup in Dreamweaver on all systems. On the new system I can open 6 but not the 7th. On the other systems I can open all 7 sites The 7th site is the only UNIX site I have. (Irrelevant as I can access it on the other systems) Still the same after turning off Firewalls and AV software I have deleted the 7th account a number of times and made a mirror image of whats on the other systems but it still won't open. It just tells me the username and password is wrong. This is incorrect as the same username and password works on every other system with no problems. See who can figure this one out. Its not that much a big deal because I mostly use FrontPage for my sites but it is handy to have.

That can't be it............... Can it? Wasn't it Sherlock Holmes who said something to the effect: "After you've ruled out everything else, whatever is left, no matter how improbable, must be the answer." ...or something like that. Anyways, that is definitely where I'd start looking. I mean, they are different there aren't they? Also ISTR stuff in the Local Policy security section in XP Pro that talks about "digitally encrypting always" being enabled. Disabling this sometimes helps with some password issues. Just be sure to leave the option "when possible" enabled. That help any?

Do you have the path in the host directory? See pic Ya. And I know they are right because I connect the other systems with the same settings. quote:
Also ISTR stuff in the Local Policy security section in XP Pro that talks about "digitally encrypting always" being enabled. Sorry but I have looked for this everywhere and just cant find it. Start>Control Panel>Admin Tools>Local Security Policys and still can't find it. Even checked Services but still nothing. I remember once when I could not get it working on another system I had to go to services and check that World Wide Web Publishing was running. At that time it was saying Starting and not Started. But that affected all sites not just one. This is the message I am getting An FTP error occurred. Cannot make connection to host. Your login or password is incorrect. Please Check your connection information. An't that just full of information. Pinpoints the problem right down...... Not
