Credit Card validation criteria - 6/1/2005 22:43:23
I am looking to develop or implement a credit card validation script. Does anyone know the criteria and equations by which the submitted numbers are analyzed to verify if they are valid. Not necessarly a valid card, but valid number combination. Any suggestions?

Are you talking about validating what they input to make sure it is in the correct format? Or actually charging the card?

validating what they input. for ex there is a mathematical way to verify if a card # is a valid formatted visa number. same hols true for MC, Amex, Discoverf, etc. I just can't seem to find a good resource or how-to for card validation development.

That's a big difference from credit card validation. Authorize.net is actually payment gateway, which is what you go through to charge your customers. The script I posted above validates the credit card to make sure it is in the correct format.

woops! i posted that response to the wrong thread. i had multiple windows open at the time and mixed-up. anyhow, i'll discet that javascript and see where it leads me.
