I checked www.yahoo.com on W3C and it had like three hundred errors. Lots of them were similar to mine. So I don t know what to think.
I hate to sound like my mother but: If someone else jumps of a cliff would you follow them?
Getting your site to validate isn't just about the straight fact that it validates - it's about understanding why valid code is better than invalid code. If you absolutely can't do without a particular thing on your site and you cannot get it to validate after considerable research - and you understand the implications of what might happen if you stick with that particular peice of invalid code - then stick with it.
The point is really understanding the code. If you don't then you're better off going for 100% validation as a safeguard.
