read/write permissions - 6/7/2005 6:08:39
iis 5.1 xp pro sp2

for local use only

no matter what I do to the "data" folder which contains the database, I cannot change the folder settings from read only. In IIS I have the folder set to read & write & scripts only. If I view the folder through Explorer, folder properties shows the read only box checked. I uncheck it, save it but it still retains the checked status.

any ideas?

I checked my fpdb folders on my machine (XP Pro with IIS 5.1) and they too have the read-only box marked. However, the pages work properly so perhaps the problem lies elsewhere?

Would be almost certain the problem is in the permissions you have set for the Internet Guest Account. Make sure that account has Modify permissions. The account is usually named:

IUSR_<Machine_Name>
