Ideas for Online Condolences? - 6/7/2005 17:06:38
I am working on a site for a funeral home. This project started as a very basic information site. They now would like to have an online memorial section. I've used FP's DRW before, and have worked with programmers to build database driven features, but am not particularly experienced in the database work itself. I can either outsource this tool or figure it out myself. I have some time as the site isn't due until the end of the summer so I might try it myself and see how far I get.

Here's what they want to have happen. When they are arranging a viewing/service for a family, the would like to add to their site an obituary with a photo. They would also like visitors to the site to be able to view and then sign a guest book with their condolences. All of the obituaries would appear on one page in alphabetical order until they indicate that it should be archived.

So, as I see it, I need to have an administrative tool to allow the funeral home to create the obituary, add the photo and create the guest book for this service, then archive the listing when appropriate.

I'd be interested in any ideas you all might for this type tool. Thanks!
