unsearchable pages - 6/15/2005 19:22:12
Is there a way to make a page invisible to search engines?

There are two ways, but both will only work with search engine bots that "behave". There are lots that don't. First way is to place this meta tag in the headers of the page you don't want indexed: <meta name="robots" content="nofollow, noindex"> Also build a robots.txt file and place it in the root folder of your website (with your index page). Place this in the file, nothing else: User-agent: *
Disallow: /mypage.htm Replace "mypage.htm" with the file name that you want excluded. There is a good tutorial here: http://www.searchengineworld.com/robots/robots_tutorial.htm

If there is a particular SE you do not want to access your website, you can talk to your host or look in your control panel for an IP Deny tool.
