FP 2002 and ASP pages - 6/14/2001 20:20:00
I just installed FP 2002 and published my site to it from my FP 2000 machine. All seems to have worked and it comes up okay under IE 5.50, but when I go to edit an ASP page, most of the content does not appear in the NORMAL tab. When I switch to the HTML view, I do see the proper tags. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?------------------ Wayne Stemple http://vil.Albany.wi.us Webmaster@vil.Albany.wi.us

If it's asp generated code then no version of FP would display it in normal mode, but you're saying that it displays in 2000, but not if 2002?I'm guessing the invisible part is code that occurs inside some asp coding. Not displaying the code is FP's way of making sure it doesn't mangle it. Do all your asp pages behave this way? I'm not having that issue.

Im not sure what causes it, changing tags to <script> vs <%%> doesnt work.I cant see any real difference between the script that does and doesnt show. A real PITA! ------------------ §þððk¥ "I am Spooky of Borg. Prepare to be assimilated, babycakes!" Subscribe to OutFront News Database / DRW Q & A The Spooky Login!

Actually, it is even more than that. First the URL is http://vil.Albany.wi.us. Everything, pictures, text and script markers do not appear, except in the shared borders. I have checked the other ASP pages that I have and the problem seems to only be with this page. I am now thinking that there is a possible mismatch os tags that FP 2000 did not care about, but FP 2002 does have a problem with. I am going to carefully review all of the code between <BODY> and </BODY> for a tag problem.I will keep you posted.

Well, I have tried to figure out what was causing this problem. I found that if I created a new page and tried to insert a photo and save it, the photo was gone when I again reopened the page in FP2002.I deleted the web and recreated it. I then published it from my FP2000 machine, which does not present any problems. When I went to open mt DEFAULT.ASP page, all of the contents was gone!! I deleted the web again and created an empty DEFAULT.ASP page. I have reinserted the contents manually and all seems to be okay. This is very strange and points to the point that we should never edit a 'live' web directly, as something like this could happen. I also use SourceSafe to backup my development site.
