Unable to view https sites - 6/20/2005 14:37:40
My sister is having a problem viewing any https sites, brings up a page can't be displayed error. She has norton internet security, sp1 on xp pro, and a netgear wgr614 router installed...any ideas?

Possibly one of her firewalls is blocking port 443 (which is the SSL port).

I'll have her check...she thought she just disabled all the firewalls active she could find and tried it but didnt' work...

She could view them 2 weeks ago...since then netgear wireless router was installed and norton internet security was installed, at the same time, sp2 was uninstalled (its originaly installatioln didn't work correctly)

try connecting the LAN directly to the PC rather than through the router.

I've run into this before and it usually has to do with my ISP (Comcast) not liking the router being there.

If your router has a setting that allows for cloning the MAC address of your PC's network card I'd try that (fools the ISP into thinking it's connected directly to your PC)

I'm pretty srue it does have the clone mac address somewhere also...I will try that.

We tried going back directly to the dsl modem (actiontec) but, she couldn't get connected at all, said it was disconnected for some odd reason...reset modem, reset cpu...nada (I just LOVE AOL!!!!!!)

So, I'll have her look for some sort of mac clone on the router..thanks :)
