"My Network Place" no longer in alphabetical ... - 6/30/2005 17:04:52
Hi, I've tried posting this to two other areas and no one has been able to help me out so i'll try it here: Hi, When i'm trying to open a new web from "My Network Places" within Frontpage, they have suddenly become random, not in alphabetical order. This makes it VERY hard to find the site i want to open. I checked the "My Network Places" from my desktop and they ARE alphabetical, but in FP, the are just in random order. Does anyone know how i can fix this very annoying issue? The only options available when i right click in the white area where the network places are: Explore, Map Network Drive, Disconnect Network Drive, and Properties. Thanks John

Search your hard disk for a file named either FP10.pip or FP.pip and rename them to either FP10.old or FP.old. Restart FrontPage and that should reset it back to the default of alphabetical. That any help?

I had my fingers crossed but I renamed and opened FP but they were still random. They are not in any sort of order at all. Any other ideas?

I didn't try that as they are referring to Windows 98 it seems. However i did open microsoft word and the network places are sorted just fine. It is just frontpage where they are random????? It seems to be within frontpage.

The list of webs in "My Network Places" in FP on my computer is sorted by the date the shortcut was added... and always has been, as far as I remember. I can't find any way of changing it to sort by name. But one suggestion would be to delete all the shortcuts and then recreate them in alphabetical order, starting with Z and working up to A. Tedious I know, but if it really matters, it might be worth doing.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling FP? Just a thought.
