Server Error: Frontpage Security Violation - 7/11/2005 19:17:12
Hope to get help... I've got Frontpage 2000 and am hosted at GoDaddy - I have never had a problem publishing using Frontpage's publisher - typically when I click on publish the dialog box opens for my user name and password - I enter those and done... Today I got the message:
Server Error: Frontpage Security Violation - I've never seen this before and tech support at GoDaddy can't help... As a "trial attempt to fix" I've uninstalled Front Page extensions in my hosting account at GoDaddy and re-installed them and am currently giving a little more time for the re-install to take hold (giving it an hour) - In the meantime I've joined OutFront, had a look around... haven't come across my issue and trying to really avoid MS Tech Support...

Any help on this will be appreciated - to say the least

Virtually every hit I get on Google makes mention of Apache or UNIX. Therefore, I assume GoDaddy has your site on a UNIX server. While this is not fatal, I personally think FP users have a much easier go of it if they are hosted on a Windows server.

However, since you may be just fine with your host, I did run across the following possible causes of your error:

The FrontPage SUID Keyfile Security Violation error message is generated by three possible conditions:

frontpagedir/currentversion/apache-fp/suidkey.pid is missing
frontpagedir/currentversion/apache-fp/suidkey.pid is not owned by root
frontpagedir/currentversion/apache-fp/suidkey.pid is readable/executable/writeable by group or world (should have 600 permissions)

If GoDaddy advertises FP hosting, they should be able to assist you. If they insist they cannot, perhaps a change is in order?
