Using FP03 Database Wizard - 7/18/2005 14:05:16
I have tried to use the Database wizard like it showed on the tutorials in here, but have obviously done something wrong. It won't display the pages in the browser and I can't figure out how to enter data into the database. I also tried to create a database from Access and then import to FP, but again had no success.... What am I missing??

I have tried publishing it to the server.... I'm working on IIS and http:localhost... I'm working on Windows XP... is there a difference between that an XP pro? I'm so confused about how to get the database to work!

Do I need to publish it to C: on my machine or on the server? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I just have very limited experience working with servers, IIS, databases, etc! It's so confusing!

Ok- I have tried that and still have no success. I have added a new page, used the Web Package solutions, Database Interface Wizard, used the pre-selected the options (except pwd protection), published to http:localhost and am coming up with an Error Message when I try to view the pages. Is there some stage I'm skipping?

I guess I'm confused because the site is hosted off of one of the servers at my workplace... but I don't really know much about servers except that this one does run IIS, has the FP extensions installed and it's running Windows Server 2003. Is there anything else I would need to do on the server side of things?

I can open the site live in FP.... when i go to mysite/database it pulls up the Database Interface page with Results Page and Submission Form links. However, if I click on either one, it goes to a .asp file and displays"Page Cannot Be Displayed". It shows on the title bar as HTTP 500 Internal Server Error.

Thanks! Here's the actual error message: Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0131'
Disallowed Parent Path
/database8/database1_interface/Results/results_page.asp, line 55
The Include file '../../_fpclass/fpdblib.inc' cannot contain '..' to indicate the parent directory.

Are there benefits to having the parent paths disabled?

Ok- I have enabled the parent paths and that seems to have fixed that error. Now I am getting a separate error on just the Results Page... Database Results Wizard Error The operation failed. If this continues, please contact your server administrator. Is this normal?

I looked over the info in the link you sent. After changing the value from False to True, it gives me an actual error message. I tried using the 2000/2 files and replacing them, but I didn't notice anything working differently. Here is the error message I am now receiving on the results page: Database Results Wizard Error
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key
'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x1734 Thread 0x17bc DBC 0x14fb42c Jet'. Thanks for all your help-- there is no way I could figure this out on my own!

I don't mind a bit of manual coding, but I have no idea what an OLEBD connection is or how I would code it. I'm looking into it now though---! :) I'm learning so much from you guys!
