Questions about Passwords - 7/20/2005 11:53:08
From what I understand, the Frontpage password feature is easily bypassed and not very secure. By reading around the board, I learned that I need to get ASP scripts or purchase the Spooky Login? Can anyone that uses this type of security provide a link that demonstrates how it all works? I just need some clarification about what I should do? I don't need super US military security, I just don't want any idiot with a few minutes on hand to get in. Also, we have the option of either hosting the site on Windows or Unix, what do you recommend? THANKS IN ADVANCE to anyone that replies, all commentary will be greatly appreciated.

Will this code work for Unix also? Or is it just for Windows? Are there other codes that are made for Unix?

The Spooky Login is just for Windows I believe (written in ASP). If you can put everything you want secure, inside a folder, you can use .htaccess to password protect the folder. Ask your host how to do this, or follow the tutorial above. If your control panel doesn't look like that, just look around for similar phrases. The actions are pretty much the same, the wording is usually a bit different. quote:
I don't need super US military security - That's not saying too much tho hehe.
