Walter OMally -> Dazed and Confused over Adsense (7/23/2005 22:02:31)

OK, I admit to trying to find someone to helo me with this and all I got was hucksters and what seemed to be con-artists. So my question is this.

What can one do to improve the quality of Google ads served to any particular page in a website?

Meta tags?
Titles?
What?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Walter

Walter welcome to OutFront!!!

Since you stated served I will assume AdSense and not AdWords. I normally do not link drop to another forum but your question has a slew of answers that you will need to research. The following has a whole sub forum. I can vouch there are some true gems in that forum.

Thank you for the link. However, it leaves me more confused than enlightened. Simple question, what is the first thing I could do to improve the relevance of the ads server to my site (yes, I am talking about Google AdSense).

Is there anyone else out there upset about the "gurus" willing to share their brilliance for money? Anyone have an opinion? Does anyone even care? Anyone out there?

Walter

I'm not sure how to address that one. Some things in the world work this way. You have to look at it from the angle they invest a heavy amount of time developing techniques they now want to recoup this via sales or another angle is take the time to round up facts and put them into once source for you for a profit also while not becoming a guru.

I recently started down this road. I am no were near an intermediate level. Some things I have noticed is the placement of the ad on the page. Even the way the base page is structured using <div>s or tables. I put mine right after the content block hoping that will drive more targeted ads. Once the user has read my page writeup on a service it seems natural to give them a source to go to. However I have been thinking about putting it dead center in the middle of the pages content. My thinking is if they get bored with the content I have provided they will see the link more readily.

I can't comment on title element, meta description and such as every page I make I optimize these items for SEO reasons.

On being overwhelmed by the information in the link I dropped. It has only been under 24 hours since I posted it. Before I even thought about AdSense I studied for well over a few weeks. The link I dropped gave me some real gems. Take the time to find what you need to get started on the right foot. Use searches on that site for questions you have. This will narrow down the information so it is not information overload (Believe me been there done that)Then start reading some of those posts on optimizing revenue. There is a lot of knowledge out there, it is scattered around the web.

I hope this helps as that is all I am trying to do.

Take care,

Brian
