Agonizingly slow/no response during FP actions - 7/26/2005 13:00:32
Someone please provide some direction here... Win2000 Advanced Server, IIS 5, FPSE 5.0.2.4330 -- clients are using WinXP/2000 and FP2002 File > Open Web > http://IPAddress > Login > Open Page > File > Save As... Wait. And Wait. And Wait some more for the Save As site listing window to propagate about 1 item (file or folder) per second. Usually as long as 3-4 minutes until it's ready to proceed, and more often than not, you get "The Folder http://IPAddress/Subweb is no longer available" Or Maybe... Insert > Picture > From File... Wait. And Wait. And Wait some more for the Look In site listing window to propagate about 1 item (file or folder) per second. Or if you... Insert > Hyperlink Wait. And Wait. And Wait some more for the Look In site listing window to propagate about 1 item (file or folder) per second. All other sites are running/publishing fine for the same clients. I've run through a variety of checks on the client side machines, IIS Settings, FW settings, to no avail. Only option I can think of is to run FPSE Repair from the setup exe (fpse02_x86_ENG.exe), but need to do it off-hours as it requires system restart. any other ideas??? McD

Does this happen when you save pages? Or are you actually waiting for the program to respond? Such as when you click "File" on the top left, is there a heavy waiting period for that?

Happens specifically with: File > Save As Insert > Hyperlink or while editing Hyperlink Properties Insert > Picture I repaired the FPSE from setup this morning... hoping to have resolved everything. Recalcualting the site from the FP ADMIN (HTML) yielded no errors with all.dct, Service.lck, or frontpg.lck, so that's at least progress...

So this is when you edit live on the server. It sounds like it is just a slow connection between the two. Have you had anyone else try this?

FPSE repair coupled with client-side cache & temp file deletion seems to have taken care of this. thanks for the help.
