Cannot log into admin site for extended virtual server - 7/28/2005 0:51:57
hello, I've been fighting with getting the Frontpage extensions working on a Windows 2003 Server for a couple of weeks now. The problem seems to reside in the setup of FPSE on virtual domains. The Sharepoint admin works just fine. I'm able to see the list of virtual servers. The administration site for "Default" works fine. The problem lies in logging into the admin site for any of the extended virtual servers. Lets just use www.akyro.com for an example. When i extended the www.akyro.com virtual server, I used the administration user for the site admin. When i goto log into the admin site for www.akyro.com, i get error saying "You are not authorized to view this page". I tried setting this up server times with no avail. Any ideas?

yes if the server is set just fine... then the log-in is incorrect verify the password, create a new admin account , new password, 1,1 (also, what do the log files say)

i assure you that the pwd is correct. i type it probably 50 times a day and as i stated earlier it works fine for loggin into the administration for the Default site. As far as i can tell, the problem either lies in how i set up the virtual server, or the root folder for the virtual server is possibly missing files. As far as the logs go, which logs specifically? Does sharepoint/fp have its own?

hi, your not alone in this I'm having the same problem. I've moved from a 2003 server to a 2003 web edition server. I can login with the admin account, but as soon as I want to access the FP site admin I can't get any further. Craig.

Are the FPSE enabled fully on these extended sites?

You are not authorized to view this page I know I've had issues with this in 2K3 before and this was the fix: In KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;889030 about 1/3 the way down the page, you'll see a section that starts: Windows Server 2003 Make sure that the following settings are configured as shown. Ensure all of those policy items are as listed. The default settings are not what is listed. It talks about trust between an NT Domain and AD but this worked for me and I'm no longer running anything that uses NT Domains.
