Guest -> FP, forms and servers (3/15/2001 14:04:00)

My webhost's server runs Apache 1.3.9 without FP extensions installed. I'd like to have forms on my (very first) website. I can't switch servers for 1.5 years (company signed contract with them)

Can this server, if they would install FP extensions, handle FP forms?

If not, then do I learn SQL and create my own...would that be smarter (and perhaps less hassle)in the long run?

There's so much to know about FP! I had no idea...

Thanks,
dh

If you build the forms using the FP properties, you will need the FP extensions and will have to 'publish'. There are other ways to build forms and still use FP, but it will require using the HTML view to put some information.

If you will expand a bit on what you want your forms to do, then I am sure we can assist you in meeting your goal.

MS has done an excellent job with their marketing of FP as an easy answer for making a web site, but they should also market that it is a powerful program in what it can do.

Oh I forgot to add this resource, which has a good tutorial for doing forms.

Thanks, Nancy
Our clients would submit information which I would like to be put into an Access database, or an Excel spreadsheet, depending on what I'm using the info for.

I'm learning html, and making the forms looks easy enough, but how to get the info to Access and Excel...that's the sticky part, because the server doesn't have the extensions installed. I've inquired about their installing them, but my experiences with them so far haven't been very positive.

I'll check out the link... thanks, and any other help would be great! This forum is excellent.
