bobburk -> Using HTML Slide Show Wizard (8/21/2005 21:48:42)

I downloaded the HTML Slide Show Wizard from the Microsoft Power Toys site. I have created a slideshow with it but I can't figure out how to get it into my website using FP 2000. Any help would be appreciated.

PowerToys HTML Slide Show is a very lite (say cruddy) program. All files must be moved to your FrontPage site root directory and a new page created in navigation for it to work.

Seems like a lot of bother when FrontPage itself has a much better Component Photo Gallery Slide Show built-in.

But bobburk is using FP2000, is the slide show component in that? I can't remember....

Caz,

Good point. I think so, but am not positive.

If not, the FP2000 Banner Ad Manager can be made to emulate a slide show which is light years ahead of PowerToy.

When people find that the available slide shows cause many problems it's time to learn (x)html and css and do it the way you want it to be.
No new pages and no scripting: see this example,

I don't know HTML or CSS and don't have time to teach myself right now so I am stuck using something off the shelf, even if it isn't the greatest. I'm just looking for something that I can control so that I can share pictures with friends across the country.

we got little off topic and never answered this question. ive never used that product but if you saved it in your web, fp should be able to publish it.

PowerToys creates files, by default, at My Documents/My Slide Shows/My Slide Show. Two folders are created, one called "Images", the other "HTML". The third, a file, is called "default.htm".

I got this to work by moving all files via Explorer to FrontPage with the site was closed, renaming "default.htm" to whatever, then moving it from the root directory via drag and drop to navigation. Works in preview mode.

Quite laborious for a rinky dink end result but gets the job done I suppose.

Thanks for the suggestions.
