anybody hosting with h..tgator and having trouble? - 8/22/2005 5:48:57
Hi everybody, I'm hosting quiet a few sites with h..tgator (I hope I'm not breaking any rules by naming them here) for over a year now. I never had problems with uploading FP03 generated sites, but ever since today something weird is happening. During the upload the server either renames the index.htm file to index.html or creates index.html on top of index.htm which is causing every site to fall apart that I was working on today. Their servers are RedHat/Apache. Does anybody else here have the same problem? What is causing this all the sudden? What needs to be done to get this fixed? Any help is greatly appreciated.

oh oh ... this seems to get worse. I just discovered that image files that started with a capital letter where changed to lower case over the weekend and now they won't show up anymore because the pages are looking for the capialized files. I haven't touched the site or made any changes... what could be causing this? Why is the server going crazy all the sudden? PLEASE HELP!!!

Have you called hostgator yet? They seem to be on the ball as far as service, and I wouldn't be suprised if they took the time to help you figure this out. I haven't heard of files being renamed before on a frontpage website. What happens when you do an FTP publish?

yes, I called, I IM'ed and I sent E-mails. The only thing I get back from them is that they think it's on my end (which is not possible), but no solution. Although this problem and a solution is mentioned on the Apache web site. There are sites falling apart right now that I haven't touched in over a week and that worked fine until yesterday. I tried to upload sites that I made changes to from three different computers (some of them are not connected with each other) and it always becomes the same drama, that's when I noticed that all of them are affected. Can someone recommend a hosting company (Windows / Unix) that offers similar terms as hostgator? Please help, my clients are already calling wanting to know why their sites are screwed up

Send me a message via AIM in my profile. Might be easier to fix this over that.
