ou812 -> ZoneAlarm Blocking (8/22/2005 18:52:22)

This was something I've not run across before, and maybe you haven't either, so just a heads up. I was placing a new button on a clients site. They are now going to show the sponsors for their organization and wanted a button to display who they are. I created an image and called it "sponsorsbutton.jpg", along with a link to the page. I tested this and all looked fine. I then loaded it up to a test site and asked the client to give it a look and they couldn't see the image, or a missing image (red x). Nothing at all was showing up. I had them clear cache, reboot, stand on their head. I couldn't get them to see it for anything. I asked someone else(Bobby - thank you!) to see if he could see it and if they could view it correctly, and he could. I then asked the client to send me the view>source of the page and found the problem to be ZoneAlarm blocking my newly created image. It replaced my image with a "<!-- ZoneLabs Popup Blocking Insertion -->" comment. Apparently, my client had some strict settings on his zonealarm. I use ZA also, but it didn't affect my viewing. Anyway, I changed the name from "sponsorbutton.jpg" to spnsrbutton.jpg and all works fine now. Hopefully, this might save someone some time if it happens to them and/or their client.
