In all FrontPage use, if you make a line break aftera h tag, the text carries on in the same format as the h tag above it, you cannot change it without altering the format of the heading as well.

Oh, well you can use a SPAN tag to change the format for the next line. And to be coding-PC you can bundle the formatting in a CSS class and use that in your coding. I've done that successfully, when I wanted all of the heading to be seen as an H tag but wanted it to appear differently on the page visually.

...over the years I have grown to hate FrontPage themes; they are so cumbersome to work out where to make changes and sometimes it is more luck than judgement if the change actually affects what you want.

Oh believe me, I HEAR YA!! :) (I've always wanted an excuse to use that little guy. *hehe* I LOVE this forum's smilies!!)

So stuck with this theme, which does have an external CSS sheet, I added the h1,h2 code that Kitka kindly provided and it did not work. So I thought that the Theme would be overiding it and when formating the theme found it was.

No, I've found that putting H tag formats in external CSS files doesn't override the theme's defaults. But putting the CSS code IN the page's Head section does. Take Kitka's initial coding and put it in the <head> section at the top of the page, surrounded by <style></style>, and it will override the H lines all through that document.

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks Starhugger and to Kitka

The help on these forums is so helpful and friendly.

Love the ranter smilie - If we could find the nerd that invented such complicated monstrosities as Themes - well I think he/she owes me about 2 years wasted work!!

Best wishes

Phil
