Vince's Menus - 7/18/2001 13:15:00
Sorry for the lengthy msg. but I have a few questions about Vince's Menus'. What are the differences between the two(other than the obvious--one is vertical one is horizontal)? Is is possible to add the title attribute to the a href tag? Is is possible to put the menu in a 100% table so that the menu items spread out as the page gets wider? Also, I have noticed that if I add to many items the borders separate. Do I just need to substitute a longer border graphic? Thank you, Charley

Hi Charley,The pop-out uses a graphical border for each menu section and a join graphic, allowing for more customization, on the drop down you can only use colours. You can't make it 100%, it's dependent on the length of text although you can use spacing to widen each box. The border graphic should expand with the menu, can you show me an example, I haven't seen this happen. I'll get back to you about the title attribute. Thank you very much, the title is working now, I didn't have the quotes in the right place. You can see the menu I am playing with at http://www.biz.colostate.edu/staff/charleyb/vinces/1popoutmenu.htm Don't focus on the aesthetics too much at the moment -- I'm just trying to make sure it will work for me first. If you mouse over the word programs you will see what I'm talking about(the borders) I like the popout menu quite a bit more than the other, so that's the one I bought, but I need it to be a horizontal menu vs. vertical. Do you know how difficult it is to switch it? I thought I would be capable of doing it, but after looking at the javascript file I'm not so sure. I have a couple of ideas but -- I don't know. Also if I do figure it out, would that make you/Vince unhappy? Thank you, Charley

Hi Charley,I think the problem is that your text is longer than you have specified for your pop-out cell - find this line mymenu.submenuitemsize(160,26) and change 160 to a higher number til you get it all on one line. I think trying to make it vertical would be pretty tough, but of course you're free to to what you like with it. Cheers Andy ------------------ Internet Business Solutions S.L.
