Wow, I'm not an expert at this, but I'm sure stumped. :( Can anyone tell me why a small jpg file that shows up in my Frontpage's preview, and in any browser preview I try, will not show up after it's published to the site? It won't show up if I go to remote web site's window and preview in browser there either. The file is in the image folder, it's directed to it... I don't get it. Please see if you can see anything! I'm previewing in both Firefox and IE
If I go to the code view of the page (in FP), it is there, but when I look at the source code from the live site, the directive (right term?) is not there.
There SHOULD be a picture of a small icthus above where it says "Click here to visit our church." I had JUST the icthus there as the link, with the text saying "Click on the icthus to visit our church.", then thought, well it's not showing up, so I made the whole group of the picture and the text the link to the church site. I also tried to make just the text the link and it still does't show up on the live web site.
Please help!!! ? I'm SO confused... [8|] haha...
duhh... would help if I gave you the site, eh? (ok, ok, I'm having a very blonde day!!) [:)]

It shows up for me. But maybe you fixed it?

And I see a couple of errors on the page, but maybe you are working on other things.
- runScripts() is not defined anywhere
- postamble() is not defnined anywhere

Ah ha... no, it is still not showing up on mine. BUT that may explain it.. it could be something from my Zone Alarm blocking it (though I've disabled pop up blocker and anything else that I THOUGHT might be making it invisible..
And no, I'm not working on anything else.
I <gulp> hate to admit that I don't even know what those two errors are let alone what to do to fix them.
This website was something I kind of salvaged off of a web builder I was involved in a couple of years ago. A definate "cheater" thing... I've learned a lot, but not exactly the way I should have. haha. I just did a lot of cut and paste, and cut and cut and trial and error... Oooh well.

Kathy,

The problem's on your end. The icthus has been successfully published as www.tedbeari.com/images/wrbc.jpg

Suggest you clear your cache, defrag and check again. Don't think this is a firewall problem.

Larry, I clean my cache just about every time I reopen my browser.
I did a defrag anyway, but it was unnecessary. (said it didn't need to be done.)
It still doesn't show up.
I'm still pretty convinced it's a zone alarm thing... I like zone alarm but it does interfere with an awful lot of things. Over the past several years I've learned to get around MOST of them.

Looks pretty normal from here - I dont think its a ZA thing (as I run ZA too), but you can always turn it off quickly to try?

PS: for the record, I didn't know it was called an "icthus" until I did a search for the "fish" looking for clipart... :D so there. Haha.. But come on donkey, can't those big ears of yours figure out why I can't see it on my computer? (or golfer, while you're in the rough looking for your golf balls - you can't find my answer??)

I've tried turning off ZA, but I have that new "suite" so I don't think that turning it off is exactly turning it off. I'm starting to think I've made a mistake purchasing that, but I've always been so happy with ZA Pro, and my Norton was due.. so what the heck. Decided I'd give ZA a try instead (for everything that is).
Some people just have so much STUFF on their computer... it's impossible to figure out what everything is doing! (haha)
<< guilty of that. <sigh> I just try to trick myself into thinking I have a clue what it's all for! Ha!

Ignore the UK rabble, it is a holiday weekend here and that always makes us a bit silly. Have you triewd to view that page in a different browser? If not I suggest that you download Firefox and check it with that. It could be an IE setting on your machine and maybe the recent MS update has fiddled with it.
Grasping at straws here, you know...

At a guess (because I know very little about the subject) I would say that somewhere in your ZA settings you are blocking offensive images and ZA thinks that an ickywhatsit is offensive for some reason. Perhaps it was originally programmed by an atheist?

Of course it could be being blocked by divine intervention; in which case a quick prayer might do the trick.[:D][sm=angel.gif][sm=bowdown.gif]

Just for the heck of it, try changing the name of the image to something else(both the image and in the HTML) and see if it will appear.

Thanks for the idea, but already did that. It's now named wrbc.jpg, it was named icthus.jpg. I really did think there might be some kind of blocker that maybe figured "religion related" names should be blocked... don't know if they exist, but I really did think of that. lol Couldn't find any. I don't think that FP will use bmp's... maybe I should change it to a jpeg. I'll try that when I get home. :) (I know they're the same, but you have the option to save it as jpg or jpeg, so maybe I'll try to change it.)

he's a she, but you're right, I did already try it in FF (I use both FF and IE- and thought I had put that in here somewhere...) And yes, I really DID think about there being an "icthus blocker" (kind of... lol) but I can't find anything... I figured since there are so many people who think religion is offensive... maybe.... oooh well.

I was hoping it was either ZA or maybe your old image was cached, or corrupted, as something else.

Can you also remove this line:
<script language="javascript">postamble();</script>
My thinking is ZA has a local postamble script or something planted on your system that is blocking the image with this???

and this part in your onload:
; runScripts()
And this is just not needed, I think.

Can you type in the location of the image into your local browser and see it? (rather than within the site locally)

Like: C:/myfiles/images/fishy.jpg

I can view it in my browser by typing in the location. This is a guess, but is it that it might show if it were a corrupt file on my computer or something? (but the fact that I've downloaded it to the site from my computer, and everyone else sees it just fine... ?)

I did as you requested, no change. (and yes, I cleaned my cache after doing this, before going back to my browser.) I have this same page on a couple of other websites, and I cannot see it there either (but only from THIS computer!) As a matter of fact, I think that it was even before I installed ZA Suite that I was unable to see it. (I did have ZA Pro, but only the firewall before.) I have a couple of other things on here, maybe it's one of them... Hmmmmmm I'm gonna start shutting things down one by one... I can't imagine what it could be though...

Another thing, try changing the link to some other page, just to see if it shows up. Maybe ZA, or whatever, doesn't like the link???
