Maybe this is old news to everyone but just in case...

During the recent crash of my third Maxtor hard drive in the last 4 months, I was confronted with the task of writing down the information one more time from the "blue screen of death". Knowing I faced an arduous session with the Dell Techs, I decided to take digital pictures of all the screens that were needed to analyze the problem. I then printed the pictures on my HP Photosmart 1215 by inserting the Compact Flash card into the printer.

The pix were a great help in dealing with the techs and are a good reference for followup discussions.

Also, because I have so much trouble resetting my email accounts, I have taken pictures of all those screens so I can get back in business when I get the main computer back home.

Hope someone finds this hint of value.

PS - I am on my way over to a local computer store to pick up the Dell 8400 with its two new Seagate 300 gig hard drives. Dell offered, under warranty, yet another Maxtor. The answer was NO and a BBB complaint.

On the positive side Dell do a very nice line in practice golf sets for the office - on the downside these seem to go to those people in the company who are least likely to know what that black thing on their desk is actually for [:D]

It certainly does!

The ONLY satisfaction I have gotten out of this is the chance to reply to the survey Dell sent asking how much I loved their Tech Mob. Hope it went back to someone who can read English 'cause I sure put a lot of it in there. [sm=tantrum.gif][sm=tantrum.gif]
