petrakid -> 401.2 error and no FP workie (9/5/2005 15:01:00)

I have made a dynamic website for my church. I have been successful with everything up until the day I moved onto the campus of this university in Seward, NE. I have already spoken the the IT people here, and they assured me that if the problem lies with them, they'll need more info to fix it. If you check out emmanuel-hermitage.org (no www), you'll see the frontend site. about 80% of the data is pulled from a database that various people update using emmanuel-hermitage.org/backoffice, which is the backend site, and is password protected. I have decided to use frontpage extensions administration stuff to setup the security for this site. Pretty stable and pretty easy to administer (since I'm 800 miles from the church now, I don't have time for hassles). From off campus, I can access this site, as can anyone at the church from any computer. However, as soon as I step foot on campus and try and access backoffice, I get the following page: You are not authorized to view this page You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied because your Web browser is sending a WWW-Authenticate header field that the Web server is not configured to accept. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please try the following: Contact the Web site administrator if you believe you should be able to view this directory or page. Click the Refresh button to try again with different credentials. HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to server configuration. Internet Information Services (IIS) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technical Information (for support personnel) Go to Microsoft Product Support Services and perform a title search for the words HTTP and 401. Open IIS Help, which is accessible in IIS Manager (inetmgr), and search for topics titled About Security, Authentication, and About Custom Error Messages. This comes up EVEN BEFORE I have a chance to enter in a user ID or password. The box doesn't even appear. Along with this is the fact that MS Frontpage does not work. When I try to open either backoffice or the frontend from frontpage (for editing), I get a bout 3 seconds of network activity, then nothing. I guess what i need to know is, does FP extensions use some strange ports that the college might be blocking? That was the only thing the IT people could think of. We do not use a proxy server, per se. There is a cache server that stores images of often visited websites, and a filtering system that filters certain sites and blocks certain ports. But no proxy is setup on any client machine. Let me know if you have an answer.
