Peace and quiet - 9/8/2005 6:43:32
I'm looking to setup a bare bones system as a firewall using Smoothwall. The main problem I've got is not finding a spare pc, but finding a quiet one - the ones I've got all require a soundproofed room they're so noisy!

The 2 major sources of noise will be the fans and the hardrive. Anyone know any quiet parts?

Just a FYI...I use smoothwall and I love it....works really gooood....I would suggest getting some fans with the adjustable speeds....you can run them nice and slow....smoothwall really doesn’t work the computer....:)

Yeah, I'm not going to be running some super fast processor so it shouldn't get too hot, but some fans make you feel like you're under a flight path!

I didn't know you could get adjustable speed fans - cheers for the tip.
