global.asa problems - 9/10/2005 19:36:40
I'm using 1and1 as my server and have multiple sites on it - it's an odd setup, but it's very cost-effective. There's one 'section' of the server assigned to me and each site has a different subfolder. Essentially I have two root directories - the root of my section and the root of each site (which is a subfolder.)

Each site has db connections within it. And every time I add a database, they all get 'mucked up.' I can get one or two - sometimes three - working, but to get all of them working is a bit of a miracle.

I read this post re:global.asa files Having read that I wonder if I create a global.asa file that works can I copy it into all of the folders so that the root of the main section and the root of each subfolder have the same one?

And/or do I somehow need to modify it to point to actual directories rather than virtual directories? e.g., jackiesellsstlouis.com/fpdb or e:\kunden\homepages\16\d100863238\jackie\fpdb ??

The 1and1 FAQ's don't deal with it and their tech support hasn't been able to help.

Thanks for any assistance or direction anyone might offer!

What you really need is a different connection name - if you use the same name, then that application value is also made available to the subweb.
Ensure you use a unique database connection name in the global.asa file (or hard code the connection in an include file)

If you arent part of the solution, then there is good money to be made prolonging the problem
