Access FP help - Can't wrap my head around this. - 9/12/2005 16:07:17
I have yet another problem.

I have a search page, it contains a form, the form contains three drop down menus and three sets of "range" text boxes. They are all sent as one big request to the same results page.

I have a devil of a time figuring out how to write the SQL statement in the DRW to get it to work. I did eventually get the results page to display "no records returned" instead of a data mismatch or too few parameters error.

However, I can't get the process to find any records in the database. I know that the criteria is accurate, and yet I constantly get "no records returned".

Here is the SQL Statement
SELECT * FROM [LSjob] WHERE (TensileLoad >= ::TensileLoadfrom::) AND (TensileLoad <= ::TensileLoadto::)
AND (SettingDepth >= ::SettingDepthfrom::) AND (SettingDepth <= ::SettingDepthto::)
AND (WaterDepth >= ::WaterDepthfrom::) AND (WaterDepth <= ::WaterDepthto::)
AND (CasingSize = '::CasingSizeddb::')
AND (CustomerCompany = '::CustomerCompanyddb::')AND (SlipType = '::SlipTypeddb::') ORDER BY JobNumber"

TensileLoad from/to = two text boxes
SettingDepth from/to = two text boxes
WaterDepth from/to = two text boxes
CasingSizeddb = drop down box automatically populated by access
CustomerCompanyddb = drop down box automatically populated by access
SlipTypeddb = drop down box automatically populated by access

If any one has any suggestions for "range " searches, I would love to hear them.

Thanks for any help

If you use the SQL string with actual known data (instead of variables)- does it return records?

You, sir.....Are a genius. I just assumed it was the range fields that were giving me problems. After entering in the hard data, it turns out that there was a problem with the one of the other fields.

I am still not sure what the problem was, but I changed the = to LIKE and ":: to "%:: on all of the drop down boxes. Now it works perfectly.

Thanks.......so much.
