Print Preview in Firefox - 9/15/2005 1:29:29
Has anyone else had trouble with print style sheets and Firefox (mainly when using print preview)?

A few pages seem to break in the middle for no reason at all, or have a heap of whitespace at the top.

Have done a search and have found the odd mention that it's buggy but nothing definite (that I could understand anyway :)).

If I adjust the margins in the print set-up things preview fine, also if I scale it to 99% it's okay.

Everything works really well in IE, but I can't be sure if I have a style problem or if it is a browser thing. It's no big deal really as all the users are on IE, but it is a tad annoying as I use FF for testing, validation and all the compliancy checks and then take a quick look in IE when it's ready to go.

The CSS validates and the XHTML Transitional validates.

Thanks for any insight :)

And this appeared to fix it for him,

quote:

Try adding .column {float: none;} to the print style sheet.

You don't apply it to anything - you just add {float:none;} to any floated divs that you don't want floating.

It seems that this is a known bug in Fx and has been rectified for the upcoming 1.1 release.
