Photoshop elements 2.0 - 9/18/2005 2:10:24
I hope I'm asking the question in the right forum. Please correct me if I'm not. I have a pretty simple question. In Photoshop Elements 2.0, I am trying to insert a picture into another picture. I can do that. The problem I'm trying to solve is how to make the first picture (the one to be inserted) somewhat transparent so that some of the background (blue sky) in the base picture shows thru. Kind of a ghostly image. I'm reading a tutorial but if the answer is there, I can't find it. Thanks.

What I'd do is this: Open up the picture that's going to be the background. Choose "select" from the top menu and "Select all" then "Edit" and "Copy" Now open a new file with a transparent background ticked. Because you've already done "copy" the new file that opens up will hopefully be the exact right size to paste the background pic in. So click on the new blank image and choose "Edit" and "Paste". In the Layers tab click the New Layers icon to give you a layer above the background image. Now go to the second image and do "Select", "Select All" and then "Edit" and "copy". Go to the new layer of the new image and select "Edit" and "Paste". This will put the second image in a layer above the first. Now on the layer tab, with the new layer selected, use the slider for the Opacity to make the foreground image more or less opaque.
