What about DMOZ & GoGuides? They are worthless as far as traffic is concerned. I only have a couple client sites listed in DMOZ. Combined, they receive over 100k unique visitors each month. Year to date traffic from DMOZ = 2 visitors on one site. Now, a backlink from DMOZ does count for something. Not as much as it used to, but still it is a good backlink to have. That said, I wouldn't worry about not being in. Submit your site to DMOZ if you want, but never give it another thought. You *don't* need a link from DMOZ to outrank DMOZ listed sites - far from it. None of my personal sites are listed in DMOZ and they perform very well.
