Clients Site - 9/27/2005 12:20:31
Hi Chaps and Chapesses :)
I am working on a new site for a client and would greatly appreciate some feed back on the look of the site. I have not validated the site yet as it’s only a single page. Just wanted to see if people like the look of it before I go on.

The site is designed for an architects company here in Ireland

The sample page is located at:

Hi Alan

I think it looks really nice - I like the measurement graphics and the width spans - neat idea.

Now you know I've got a thing about DOCTYPES so I won't go any further down that route except to say that they're a "Good Thing" and all professional webdesigners should be using them.

Only things I'd change would be to dump the 10pt for font-sizes which is a print measurement rather than a website one. Go for something like 76% in the body and then scale up or down as necessary for other stuff. Using px or pt means that users of IE can't scale your font-size up at all (decent browsers do, but not IE). The site so far scales with no problem so I'd definitely go with the relative font-sizing.

I'd also obfuscate your e-mail address unless you want every spammer in the world getting in contact - check this tool out: http://www.seowebsitepromotion.com/obfuscate_email.asp

Only other thing is you're missing some alt attributes from images which you'll need to put in.

I normally would never suggest this (that being said) When you mouse over the menu it would be neat if you turned the pointer into cross hairs. I think it would actually work in this case. It fits in with the theme.

An opinion and 50 cents will get you a cup of coffee. LOL

I like it very much but I also agree with Dan about the blue background. Perhaps a more aqua blue would look okay, perhaps #336699?

Perhaps their logo also needs to be reworked a little because it's very difficult to read "Project Managers" and "Interior Designers".

OK… Where to begin.

**Tailslide**
The doctypes will be placed in the final type. I agree, they are very important.
Fonts are just set that way to get the look and feel I want. I will be changing most font settings in the final run. (Tidying up the CSS)
ALT…. again will be put in at the end (Tidying the HTML)

**DPF**
Not sure what you mean about the blue going with the green????? What green???
The blue is the same colour you would get in a blueprint for a building.
That’s why they call it a blueprint (Sorry couldn’t help myself):)

**womble**
Thanks very much

**mar0364**
Never even considered it. It’s a great idea.. Thanks

**Nicoleoz**
LOGO. That logo broke my hart. I managed to clean it up as best I could but still can’t get it to show the bottom text as I would like.

Hope I got everyone, and thanks for your feed back. I will go over the points above and put them in place where I can.

What green???
well to these old eyes, the background under products and the hands etc in the header are green. hey if you like the colors (and your client does) thats fine - I was just giving my reaction. If I sold pea soup, I dont think I would use that shade of green for my site..lol

Now that you say it the hands and the plans in the header do have a slight green tint to them. Must be my eye sign….. Should drink more bud to help me focus :)
