interesting tools - 9/30/2005 8:28:24
Below are two very interesting and useful tools to download. Both are freeware tools.

The first one is a screen caliper tool. I find it very useful in measuring pages while working on them to figure out how many pixels I am over or under or need to move divs or elements. Its also useful for other things as the page description at the website will explain.

The second one is fabulous. I use it when I have a grapic I wish to use on a page to match colors that I wish to use for backgrounds etc..

Enjoy them, they are both fabulous tools to add to your tool box.

I have used both of these as well, and I agree completely. They are super!

I figured they would be well worth posting since I have tried both and love them.

The caliper tool has been so helpful when I can't seem to get things to line up. I know exactly how many pixels I am out of line with. And when I know that each div doesn't exceed my measurements in my main wrapper, it helps me to figure out a bit more what is going on.

The color picker is awsome, I have used it to match things on many occasions. I have another color tool that I use also, but this is for different things.

Debs are you using Firefox? If so go grab the colorzilla and measureit extensions. They put two little icons bottom left of the browser window and you just click to get a colour dropper or a drag box for sizes.

I use calipers for offline stuff but I find the FF extensions are great when online.

Hey Lori. Where you been? Welcome back.

Tell me about it. Last 2 weeks were manic. I've got 5 sites coming in at the end of this week from one client, mods to a site I did last year plus presentation stuff they want done, another site to quote for on Thursday and based on a conversation I had over the weekend, some kind of webring to sort out.

Just had 4 days off (apart from the conversation) and it's the first time off I've had in over a year. I keep thinking I should be rich. :)

I just returned in from the WOMMA conference in New York city - still have jet lag, and brain overflow. I have 23 open design projects. 18 of those are full design and build to standard compliant XHTML/CSS. I have 12 pending projects in, and a waiting list over two months long.

I have two meetings tomorrow, two on Wednesday, one on Thursday, and conference all day on Friday. I work from about 8:am to 3am daily - except Sunday (thank goodness it is 'mostly' from home - lots and lots of meetings, conferences and speaking gigs, but usually here behind the puter') ...

Between Zenful Creations and iKarma, I have no idea what a day off is anymore, LOL!

Actually, I like these that I downloaded. i can grab colors from anywhere and they stay in the program, always there for me to use. You can create files of sorts in the program and just go to the ones you wish to use.

The caliper thing, love that one, I measure between browsers with it.

waiting list

Now that's a good idea, I must learn to say no. My working day starts at 8 and finishes sometime around 11 at night. Other half complains that he never sees me. I've been churning the work out at a rate of knots but never have time to do my own site.

Over the past 3 weeks with a deadline to meet, I put in 271 hours. If I hadn't had the 4 days off I think I'd have lost it.

Ok, at least you have work, so be happy! And keep thinking that its fun, as web design is. don't let the fun leave or it becomes work :):)
