sophistikatied -> Animated gifs as document effects (10/5/2005 13:34:55)

Does anyone know how to have an animated gif move around on the page? Here's an example of what I'd like to do, only using an animated gif instead of a plain one... Dynamic Drive - Autumn Leaves

Any input would be wonderful! Thanks!

it DHTML which is the combination of html, css and javascript. not for the faint of heart to try.

Hmmm...well, that's a bummer! I imagine one day I'll be brave enough to take it on, but probably not today! Thanks for the info!

I think it is just a case of using the code they are freely offering and then just linking it to your animated graphics instead of their leaves.

Interesting effect!

oh!!!! i didnt even notice it was an available script..... i see

What's the matter? You don't like it? I'll add a suitable background and other stuff! - maybe a nice midi-file (?)

Just don't forget the DOCTYPE and alt tags! [;)]

Of course not! Such an omission would undermine the design impact and could make it seem amateurish to those who look at the code!

Thanks for the tip Womble [;)]

and in this case, the code would be less gibberish than the page!!!!

Well, that's it! The last time I share my innovative, 'ahead-our-time' design concepts. I've always said that one day something new will hit the Internet and I'll be in on it and make a fortune. Just don't be caught copying this when you realsie the value of 'different' design!

Appreciation for my tastes at last - thanks[;)]

It's just a case of

creating/obtaining your animations
putting them in a folder
naming them
pasting the jscript into your page
Changing the image source links on the script to your animated files
Upload it all !

Then do let us see your finished product[;)]

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are joking aren't you?

Your visitors won't be able to leave your site fast enough. Anyone with epilepsy is likely to have an instant attack and anyone with Vertigo will throw up which in my opinion is the only sensible thing to do when confronted with a page like that.

dpf -> RE: Animated gifs as document effects (10/7/2005 8:39:35)

jaybee - its art- just let it flow over you!

Do I detect just a small hint of jealousy here?

jaybee -> RE: Animated gifs as document effects (10/7/2005 8:56:05)

Yeah sure. If I designed a site like that I'd have to get myself struck off the IWA.

Can you put something at the top of the page along the lines of.....

This site best viewed [image]http://imagehost.biz/ims/pictes/203636.gif[/image]

RickP -> RE: Animated gifs as document effects (10/7/2005 9:05:39)

Now I just can't make my mind up about this Jaybee...

Either it is a case of some very unprofessional jealousy creeping in here...

or...

You really don't like the page!? [sm=ask.gif]

jaybee -> RE: Animated gifs as document effects (10/7/2005 9:07:55)

Wrong on both counts.

I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really

Don't think so Dave - she'd definitely sue! - but... it might be worth it... that graphic would integrate very nicely into the design flow.
