I need logo help! - 10/10/2005 19:27:52
I'm probably in the running for the worst graphic designer ever - and my desperate attempt at a logo shows it. You can take a look here.

I started out with some graphics from the MS Image Composer tutorials because I liked their hibiscus graphic (one of my favorite flowers). Then I tried to incorporate the colors I want to use on the website and the initials for the business name. At first I liked it but now I'm having a lot of doubts.

I want something simple but elegant, and I would like to use it on business cards, labels, etc, in addition to the web.

Can anyone give me some pointers or perhaps help me create one? I can pay $25-40 dollars for the right design.

Thanks!

Hello there

I would certainly keep the narrative completely separate from the image. You also need to think of how the logo will look when it's reduced in size to fit on a business card etc. I think the current image you are using will end up looking like a splodge and will be hard to pick up.

I'd keep things as simple as possible. Perhaps use a different image of a single bloom.

I have a problem with the bloom full stop. What does that have to do with the business?

Take a look around the web at other photography etc. sites. That way you'll get a feel for the sorts of things people use and you'll also see what sticks out like a sore thumb.

Thanks for the feedback jaybee and Andy. Another member has sent me a couple possibilities that should work better. I know flowers don't have anything to do with the business, but using pictures of cameras or anything like that didn't appeal to me either.

I considered just doing something with the initials (TFP) but wasn't happy with my results.

How about something like this. I can send a larger higher res version and I can alter the colours if you want it.
