Outlook Web Access Help - 10/12/2005 19:14:57
First post, please forgive me if it's not in the right place. I did a search and couldn't find this issue.

OWA - My laptop with Exchange on it shows a folder on the left side called "follow up." OWA does not. As far as I can tell, that's the only item I can't see in OWA that I can see in Exchange. Our IT guys can't figure it out. Thought I might try on my own. I've been through the options on both platforms and can't find anything on this. I find that folder to be very useful and would like to access it from OWA. Please advise.

My laptop with Exchange

Hi and Welcome to Outfront.

I can only assume you mean Outlook. :) (At least I hope you don't have "Exchange" running on your laptop since it is a server application.)

I admin a few OWA servers myself. Something like this leads me directly to a permissions issue. Just a few Q's to ask tho:

1. Is the folder in question part of an Archive or any local PST file? (Those will not appear in OWA and only items actually on the Exchange server can be viewed.)
2. Is the folder a Public Folder? (Special permissions apply.)
3. What version of Exchange? 2000 or 2003? (Hopefully not 5.5)
4. Can you create a folder in OWA and view it in Outlook? How about vice versa?

First off, I had a little trouble with the login, so I had to create a new profile. This is still Texmike.

Thanks Jaybee and Rdouglass. Jaybee, that website you sent me to has a ton of stuff on it. I couldn't find anything about the follow up folder though. Did you mean that I need a newer version of the software?

Rdouglass - sorry, yes, I meant Outlook. The folder isn't part of an archive, but now that I look closer, it is part of a group of folders in a seperate pane called Favorite Folders. Come to think of it, I don't have that entire window when I'm on the OWA.

It's not a public folder and shouldn't be a permissions issue.

I'm using Outlook 2003, so I'd guess that means we're on Exchange 2003, but I've emailed our IT guys to be sure. They may come back with "why do you want to know?"

Yes, and yes to question #4.
