Even if you do get your site listed in directories and submitted to lots of search engines, you still have a major drawback. Your product is not necessarily a need. And for it to be a "want", requires quite a bit of promotion and marketing. In other words, it has to be something that people need or want so that they can go looking for it. If there isn't an urgency to look for it, then getting listed and submitted won't be of much help because people don't know it even exists regardless of how good of an idea it is. Examples are like: Lingerie, credit repair, mortgages, etc... That is the kind of stuff that people are going to look for on their own and that is where the directories and search engines come in handy. And that is the part that sucks because directories and search engines are free. Have you ever checked out BlogAds.com??? It has two pitfalls. The most popular sites are too expensive and the cheap ones don't get enough traffic. The real trick is finding a site that is finally booming but still haven't raised their prices yet.
