Best places to submit my site to? - 10/14/2005 6:59:54
Hi guys.. I'm ususally found in the other forums (getting the sites designed) as most of our sites are advertised in the real world mainly as opposed to virutually but i've a new site that I'm setting up (Car Care 4 Us Girls) and was wondering what would be the best places to submit my site to be picked up by the search engines or are there other ways of promoting the site? Thanks for reading, all answers greatly appreciated! Stephen

Most search engines have their own Submit your Site page. That sometimes works. You can also check out the SE Relationship Chart to see what search engines supply others. Also, if you have a buddy that is already listed in Google, ask him / her to put a link to your site. Then Google will follow that link and find you

Two other suggestions... Also work on getting back links. Just make sure to mix up the linking text as it will help. This is mainly a Google thing. For this the sites you submit to really do not need to be on target. Another slant on the above is obtaining back links that are targeted. This will also help PR which in turn will help partially on the SERPs in Google. The main thought on this paragraph is to drive targeted traffic which will ultimately help sales. Took a peak at the site. Looks like a nice idea. Take care, Brian

Even if you do get your site listed in directories and submitted to lots of search engines, you still have a major drawback. Your product is not necessarily a need. And for it to be a "want", requires quite a bit of promotion and marketing. In other words, it has to be something that people need or want so that they can go looking for it. If there isn't an urgency to look for it, then getting listed and submitted won't be of much help because people don't know it even exists regardless of how good of an idea it is. Examples are like: Lingerie, credit repair, mortgages, etc... That is the kind of stuff that people are going to look for on their own and that is where the directories and search engines come in handy. And that is the part that sucks because directories and search engines are free. Have you ever checked out BlogAds.com??? It has two pitfalls. The most popular sites are too expensive and the cheap ones don't get enough traffic. The real trick is finding a site that is finally booming but still haven't raised their prices yet.
