renroc -> Cross Browser Compatible (10/14/2005 15:29:23)

Hi Everyone, On to my next set of questions/problems... My template is valid even with the tables... [:)] But when I view the page in 'Firefox' there is a few problems, from the 2, that I can see, one is a size problem in a cell, the other is 'Firefox' has put in an extra row in the table...

http://www.aonerealty.com.au/Site%20Update/temp%204c%20-%20tables.htm

Can someone help me with these...
Thanks in advance
Renroc

The images/bottomline2.jpg is throwing off the height on the bottom. What happens when you remove that?

renroc -> RE: Cross Browser Compatible (10/15/2005 0:13:43)

Thanks Bob, I worked on the page some more..
This what I came up with...

http://www.aonerealty.com.au/Site%20Update/template.htm

The page works will at both 800x600 & 1024x768, on IE & Firefox... Do I need to make compatible with anything else??

Mozilla, Opera, and Netscape are the other ones I test on. There are also the Mac browsers as well though. Services like Browsercam let you view your site as it's seen on other browsers, but can work out pretty pricey.

BobbyDouglas -> RE: Cross Browser Compatible (10/15/2005 5:50:23)

Removing the img tag seems to have corrected the FF issue.

Depending on your potential user base, you might want to take a look at IE 5.5 and see how it looks. Opera is free now, so that should be an easy test.

Browser cam is great, but I wouldn't suggest signing up for a plan unless you actually think you will make good use of the service.

If you have a specific OS/Browser you need a screenshot of, let me know and I will see what I can do about getting one.

If it's just one site you're wanting to check out, there is a 24 free evaluation, and you can get 1 days access for $19.95 though. Depends on how important you feel it is to test on all browsers/OS.

Thanks guys, I'll work on those other browsers... I don't think I'll go Browser Cam, just yet... But I do have about 6 or 7 domains to do... This forum has been my lifesaver over the last week or so... I don't know what I would have done without it & the great members... I was ready to give up.. One thing is for sure, I'm glad I don't have to pay to check if the page I'm work on is validate or not... it would cost (the boss) heaps... the old page had 78 errors on it... (Not one of mine)...
Thanks again
R

Just a quick question .. can I run those other browsers on the same computer???

Yep, no problem. I have all of them, plus older versions of IE (though getting multiple versions of IE is a bit more difficult) on the same PC.

OK Guys, I've downloaded & installed Netscape, & Opera, I'm using 'Crazy Browser'.. I've had a look at the Mac browsers, but I just don't know which one to get...

caz -> RE: Cross Browser Compatible (10/17/2005 9:13:28)

Er, unless you have a Mac you can't use Mac browsers - this is where Browsercam can help by giving you screenshots of your pages as seen in various browsers. I usually sign up for the 24hr free trial to do this.
Of course having a friend who uses a mac is also handy[;)]

renroc -> RE: Cross Browser Compatible (10/17/2005 11:41:52)

Thanks for that info caz.. I forgot to say that I have Firefox too... I don't know anyone with a Mac, or do I, I'll have to ask my daughter what they use at the school.... just thinking out loud..
Now that I've sorted this out & everything looks Ok, am just waiting to get the go ahead... so now I'm working on other parts... I'll post my questions...
Thanks again caz

If you need help with testing in IE, let me know. I have IE in exe form for versions: 4.x, 5.0, 5.5, and 6.0.

caz -> RE: Cross Browser Compatible (10/17/2005 13:32:44)

Thanks dave, that's new to me - but is it always busy?

Bobby, renroc has already been given help to obtain and install other versions of IE.

d a v e -> RE: Cross Browser Compatible (10/17/2005 13:37:41)

did seem a bit bit busy tonight - but it got there after a few moments for me ;)
