_vti Folders and Server Name Change - 10/20/2005 13:05:40
Due to network changes, I must begin to use the FQDN (fully-qualified domain name) for our intranet server. I can easily do a mass replace to update all of the links but when I do a search, I found several instances of the un-qualified name in the _vti_cnf folder. Should I also change the name in the files in this directory? It would be much easier to replace all instances including the ones in the _vti folders if that will work.
Thanks.

Welcome to OutFront jleeper!!!

I am going to assume here that you are doing a find and replace on your production server. I would do it local on the machine that has the FP web on it. Then publish the changes. This will update the file in the _vti folders.

Take care,

Brian

One thing - do not just copy the vti folder over from one server to the other (either via Remote Desktop / FTP) and then try to apply FPSE - this can cause some problems
