Next question... [:D] If you have two sites (my case is festivestuff.com and festive-stuff.com) what should I do by way of submitting to search engines. For example, should I submit both domains to Google or should I submit one domain to google and another to MSN, etc or are there guidelines on best practise on this matter? Stephen

Submit your main domain to all the search engines, leave the other one alone. Some search engines discourage identical sites which is effectively what you have if you submit both.

That's what I thought to be honest but I do have them pointing to the same place just in case someone puts in the wrong one! Cheers! Stephen

Delete one site immediately. You identical sites are viewed as duplicate content - or spam - by the search engines. I don't understand why you would have two seperate sites with the same content anyhow. If you only have one site, but are pointing two Domain names at it you still run the risk of tripping a duplicate content penalty. It has happened to me and thousands of other people. Proceed at your own risk. (submiting a site is so 1999)

So do you have any reccomendations as to how you'd go about using multiple domain names for the same site? For instance, if I want: myDomain.com myDomain.net myDomain.us myDomaine.com (assume a miss-spelling domain to catch those that may miss-spell it) all to go to the same domain, how would I do it? Does Domain Masking take care of it or will that flag the SPAM sensors? To me, the above example is not SPAM but if the 'bots say it is then I will pay the penalty.

The main reason I have the two domains is I don't want someone else to jump on the bandwagon if I do a good site, granted festivestuff dot com isn't really an issue but for other sites it was. quote: (submiting a site is so 1999) haha! I think he was saying that if you did that, it would be flagged a SPAM'ing site. What I was asking is if he had any suggestions or techniques to do it another way.

I thought Mojo was talking about when you have multiple domains with the same exact content? Which is sometimes called a "Parked Domain" where you can have msn.com, and msnetwork.com has the same information as msn.com, with a different domain. A 301 redirect shouldn't negatively affect your rankings, since there is no "content" on the domain, it is just a redirect to the real domain.
