Yep, you're right. Windows 2000 never came with a copy of msconfig. You can however use the Windows XP version of msconfig on Windows 2000 if you have access to an XP machine. Just copy the XP msconfig.exe file from the c:\windows\system folder to the Windows 2000 c:\winnt\system32 folder, and run as normal. There's also a few reputable sites on the 'net that offer the file as a free download. Use Google to search for them. Another option (which I use) is to download "Startup Control Panel" by Mike Lin. It installs an applet in your Control Panel, which gives you full control of all programs that start from the registry, ini files, and your startup folder. You can also temporarily "delete" program entries from both locations without having to permanently delete them, so they're easy to restore. And that's very useful if you're troubleshooting.
