Uncle Meat -> RE: Server returns different errors when publishing. (11/1/2005 10:11:55)

Well I thought this was all behind us at this point, but I guess not. Whether Mr. Giomanach is well respected on these forums or not was never being challenged... I just though his reply to me:
quote:

ORIGINAL: Giomanach
Please do not argue with me, I run my own Linux and Windows Servers, I know what I am talking about

...was rude and uncalled for.

U.M.

That is all behind us now, so let's play nicely - how is your testing going on with the new server place?

We are not trying to beat you up - notr to discourage you - a new member - from coming back and participating. However, perhaps you should go back and re-read your posts. Even if you consider Gio's response to be "rude and uncalled for", you need to take ownership for your retort which far exceeded his. It's a sad way to live if you always allow the tone of your speech to be dictated by others.

It's not. I can not connect to the URL Giomanach provided me.

It just happened to be to the point and factual, you just took it the wrong way. Yes we know him you don't, you are new so maybe should not have turned it into a pi55ing contest. (:

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!! [sm=yupi3ti.gif]

This is so stange too.

First off, BIG THANKS go out to Giomanach for providing me an alternate host in which to test on. [sm=bowdown.gif] [sm=bowdown.gif] [sm=bowdown.gif]

When I tried to publish to the URL provided to me by Mr. Giomanach FrontPage returned an error stating it couldn't reach the URL I enterred. I wrote Giomanach back and told him I couldn't get to his site, so he provided me with a completely different URL. Again I couldn't hit that URL either? Just for the hell of it I decided to remove the "http://" pre-fix from the web address provided by Giomanach when entering it into the "Publish Web" window. Low and behold I was prompted for a login and password! I used the credentials provided by Giomanach and the publication of my website commenced. It continued without error or failure way past the point where it would normally fail when uploading to GoDaddy. The thing is I was publishing to an FTP address versus an HTTP address so I figured this test was not really proving anything. Once I terminated the upload I decided I'd try removing the "http://" from the beginning of my GoDaddy web address in the Publish Web window of FP 2002. Well guess what? It's uploading just fine now.

Explain that!!!???

Well as the old saying goes, "marriage is an institution, and who who wants to live in an institution?"...

...but then certain elements around here are complete nutters...[8D]
