Starhugger -> Online Colour Tool (10/29/2005 17:33:58)

I just found this webpage and HAD to share it. It is so cool! It's a colour tool that helps you find a colour scheme for your webpage, and gives you the hex codes for all the colours in the scheme.

You choose the main colour you want to use and it shows you other colours that go with it, based on a variety of criteria that would make sense to anyone who's studied colour theory. But anyone can use this tool without knowing colour theory.

The rest of the site is good too because they have colour tables not only of web-safe colours but also pastels. I use those pages all the time! But I only discovered this colour tool today. Have fun! [:)]

Here's the link:

I'm not associated with this site in any way. Just wanted to share a good thing. [:)]

Thanks Star, that is very good. I've tried some others and they came up with some interesting schemes that looked pants whan you actually made a page from them.

Your link had a space in it for some reason so it didn't work.

I've edited it for you.

"Looked pants"? Is that a typo or a saying I've never heard before? (One never knows these days. [:D] )

Weird, I copied it from a message I posted in another forum, so I guess it didn't translate precisely. Thanks for correcting it!

Sorry, English slang.

Looks really bad.

Pants in the UK are not the same as pants in the US. UK pants are underwear but underwear of a particular type, usually large and unattractive. These days they tend to be called Bridgets due to Bridget Jones.

womble -> RE: Online Colour Tool (10/30/2005 10:37:47)

Speak for yourself Jaybee, my pants are neither large or unattractive! [:D]

Great link btw Star! [:)]

Starhugger -> RE: Online Colour Tool (10/30/2005 10:50:27)

One of these days I'm going to create a slang dictionary! LOL I don't think North American English has an equivalent that compares something to the attractiveness of one's underwear. If it does I guess I don't hang out with the people who use it. [:D] I think we just go straight to the body functions and stick with that. [;)]

Glad you like the link, Womble!

And speaking of slang... Womble, what is a "Stroppy Diva" and where does one get the training? [:D]

There is a dictionary or 10. Loads of links here

My fave is

but this is also handy

Thanks JayBee! I've seen a few of them around, but I always wind up frustrated. These ones don't seem too bad.

A female opera star of great rank or pretension; the original Italian word means "goddess."

New title refers to the panto thread (otherwise known as lifesaver sours) and training is available right here on Outfront (Caz is head tutor). [:D]

Kitka -> RE: Online Colour Tool (10/30/2005 16:54:24)

Womble defined Diva very nicely, but forgot to mention "Stroppy". I'm not sure if that is a word used in Nth America but it means "bad-tempered, grumpy, belligerent, awkward to deal with, etc". [:D]

Nicole -> RE: Online Colour Tool (10/30/2005 17:43:17)

"Strop" was also Paul Hogan's side kick on Australian Television before he started making movies.

Another good colour picker tool Star, nice find, there seems to be a lot of them around really doesn't there?

I fondly remember the old Paul Hogan Show, it was shown on channel 4 a few years ago. Sort of an intelligent version of Benny Hill.

They say that when you use an adjective in this way to describe yourself it is either totally correct or the complete opposite.

In view of Womble's close geographical location to me I assume it is the opposite in her case. (just in case I ever meet her).[:)]

Very OT (sorry Starhugger [sm=icon_redface.gif])... but was Strop named after the leather strap used to sharpen razors or a shortened form of "stroppy"?? His character seemed very laid back, so "bad-tempered" seems rather unlikely. <wondering>
